Construction CRM shortlist

Picking the Best Construction CRM Starts With What You Sell

Who each CRM was built for, what it does well, and five tests to run with a real lead before you sign.

A sales rep on a call in a builder's office while a 40x60 post-frame shop with a lean-to is framed outside

The short answer, sorted by who it fits

There is no single best construction CRM. There is the one built for the jobs you sell. A remodeler running six kitchens, a roofer working a storm, a GC chasing RFPs and a pole barn builder quoting a shop need different things from the same word.

  • Home builders and remodelers who want sales and project management together: Buildertrend or JobTread.
  • Roofing and exterior contractors: JobNimbus.
  • Commercial general contractors tracking pursuits and bids: buildr.
  • Any trade that mainly needs a sales pipeline: Pipeline CRM, or HubSpot and Salesforce if you want to shape it yourself.
  • Post-frame, pole barn, barndominium and metal building companies: Leads2Build, which is our product.

Details about other companies come from their own websites, as of September 2026.

Five tests that pick the best construction CRM for you

Every demo looks tidy. Run these with a real lead from last month.

  1. The Saturday-night lead

A Facebook lead ad for a 40x60 shop comes in at 9 p.m. on Saturday. Where does it land, which rep gets it, and how does anyone know? The builder who calls first with a real answer often sets the number the others are measured against.

  2. What are they building?

He wants a 40x60 with 14-foot eaves, a 12-foot lean-to and two overhead doors, for equipment. Can the record hold that, the site address and the budget? If it holds only a name and a number, the rep rebuilds the job from memory on every call.

  3. The permit question

Before he prices, does anything tell the rep whether that address needs a permit and which office decides? A farm building exempt in one county can need a permit and stamped truss drawings in the next.

  4. The handoff

When he signs, does the deal become a job with its deposit and progress draws, or does someone retype it into a second system? Every retype is a chance for the contract and the invoice to disagree.

  5. The seat count

Count everyone who needs to see a deal: reps, the office, the owner, a project manager. Some tools charge per user, some include unlimited users. Do the math for the team you will have in two years.

Built for builders: Buildertrend, JobTread, JobNimbus and buildr

Buildertrend

Fits: home builders, remodelers and specialty contractors. Buildertrend says it was built for builders who oversee 5+ projects a year or handle complex, multi-phase builds.

Strengths: a sold lead converts to an active job in the same platform that runs the schedule, change orders and financials. Proposals are templated and e-signed, with email drips and a client portal.

Consider: pricing is a custom quote, and it includes unlimited users. Source: buildertrend.com, September 2026.

JobTread

Fits: home builders, remodelers, specialty and commercial contractors who want the CRM tied to estimating.

Strengths: web-to-lead forms, a pipeline with each lead's full history, follow-up tasks, a cost catalogue, bid requests, e-signed contracts and a customer portal, all in one plan.

Consider: $199 a month plus $20 per internal user on monthly billing, less per user as the team grows and 20% off annually. Source: jobtread.com, September 2026.

JobNimbus

Fits: roofing, restoration, solar, gutter and siding contractors.

Strengths: boards give a bird's-eye view of every job, and every plan includes contacts, estimates, e-sign, invoices, payments, QuickBooks sync and the mobile app.

Consider: plans are set by team size (up to 3, 10 or 19 users, then Enterprise) and prices are quoted, not published. Source: jobnimbus.com, September 2026.

buildr

Fits: commercial general contractors managing pursuits and preconstruction.

Strengths: it turns RFPs into leads, records go/no-go decisions, keeps contacts, RFPs, permits and contracts on one pursuit record, and connects to Procore. Seats are unlimited.

Consider: it is shaped around commercial bid pursuit rather than selling to a landowner. Pricing is not published. Source: buildr.com, September 2026.

Sales-first CRMs: Pipeline CRM, HubSpot and Salesforce

Pipeline CRM

Fits: general contractors, custom builders and specialty trades whose first need is a clean sales pipeline.

Strengths: multiple pipelines for bid tracking, e-signed contracts and change orders inside the CRM, a mobile business-card scanner, and QuickBooks Online and Desktop sync.

Consider: $25 to $49 per user per month billed annually, with a 14-day free trial. The Start plan holds 250 active deals and one pipeline. Source: pipelinecrm.com, September 2026.

HubSpot and Salesforce

Fits: companies that want a general-purpose CRM they can shape to any sales process, often with someone in-house to run it.

Strengths: they bend to almost any process. Salesforce's contractor page lists built-in email marketing, prebuilt dashboards and job tracking. HubSpot's free plan covers up to two users, with email templates and calling minutes included.

Consider: they are general-purpose, so pole barn specifics such as the building's size, the permit and the crew handoff are yours to set up, or to pay someone to set up. Salesforce's Starter Suite is $25 per user per month; HubSpot's paid plans are priced per seat. Sources: salesforce.com and hubspot.com, September 2026.

Leads2Build, for post-frame builders

Leads2Build (our product)

Fits: post-frame, pole barn, barndominium and metal building companies that design a building, sell it and build it. It is not built for remodelers, general contractors or single-trade work like roofing; the tools above serve those better.

Strengths:

Consider: it runs sales, estimating, contracts and the build in one system, so it asks you to move those in. Already price in SmartBuild? Keep it: SmartBuild is an integration partner, and your estimates come through. The mobile app is in beta testing on iPhone and Android.

A lead card that knows what is being built

Each customer is one card on a nine-stage board. The face carries the building type, the budget, the lead source, the rep who owns it and the phone number.

The dots show how much of the stage checklist is done. The banner says whether the site needs a permit and which office rules on it. The button is the next move: Call on a new lead, Create Estimate once you have talked.

Questions builders ask

What is the best CRM for construction?

It depends on what you build. Buildertrend and JobTread fit home builders and remodelers, JobNimbus fits roofing and exterior trades, and buildr fits commercial GCs chasing bids. Pipeline CRM, HubSpot or Salesforce fit teams that mainly want a sales pipeline. Post-frame builders should look at Leads2Build.

Do I need a construction-specific CRM, or will HubSpot or Salesforce do?

A general CRM tracks contacts and deals well and bends to almost any process. Out of the box it does not know the job: the building, the site, the permit, the estimate and the crew handoff. If someone will build those fields and automations, it works; if not, a construction CRM starts closer.

How much does a construction CRM cost?

As of September 2026: HubSpot has a free plan for up to two users, Salesforce's Starter Suite is $25 per user per month, Pipeline CRM runs $25 to $49 per user per month billed annually with a 14-day free trial, and JobTread is $199 a month plus $20 per internal user on monthly billing. Buildertrend, JobNimbus, buildr and Procore quote on request.

Does Procore cost money, and is it a CRM?

Yes. Procore charges an upfront annual fee by product, based on your annual construction volume, with unlimited users and no published prices. Its own site sells it as construction project management software, from preconstruction to closeout, and lists no sales pipeline, so builders who need one pair it with a CRM such as buildr, which connects to Procore.
