CATALOG_TEMPLATES ships complete markdown contract bodies, each tagged with a business model and a plain-English description of its liability, warranty and payment shape. Picking one saves a tenant-owned copy into contract_templates at version 1, which the builder then edits freely. A preview renders the body with sample data so it reads like a real contract, not raw placeholders.
Also called: contract templates · starting point contracts · contract presets · sample construction contract
- 1Settings → Intake & Contract → Browse template library.
- 2Each card shows the business model badge, a one-line summary, and a paragraph on liability/warranty/payment shape.
- 3Preview body renders the whole contract with sample values (Jordan & Taylor Sample, $52,400.00) through the real contract renderer.
- 4Use this template opens a branded confirmation, then saves a tenant copy and makes it the default.
- 5Previously-signed contracts are untouched — they keep their frozen copy.
The catalog deliberately lives in TypeScript, not a database table: 'Storing them in SQL migrations is gnarly to write, gnarly to update, and gnarly to review. Living in TypeScript means template changes go through the same code-review path as any other change to the platform — the right gate for legal-adjacent content.' The header is equally blunt about limits: 'IMPORTANT — these templates are STARTING POINTS, not legal advice. Each tenant's copy must be reviewed by a licensed attorney in the applicable jurisdiction before use with customers.'
- Builders operating without any written agreement at all
- Using a turnkey GC contract while actually only supplying a kit and coordinating an installer (or vice versa)
- Not knowing what a contract for your liability profile should even contain
