What it is

A bridge from the org's Service Catalog (names and rates in org_service_catalog) to geometry and a measured quantity. Twelve geometry kinds are recognised: gutter, gutter guard, gravel floor, concrete slab, concrete footer, concrete approach, concrete porch pad, garage door, Versetta stone, board and batten, wall insulation and roof insulation.

Pick a row from the services you already price — gutters, a concrete pad, insulation, stone, a garage door — and it appears in 3D on the building with a quantity the building measures for itself. Quantities follow the building; the quoted rate does not move

Change the building and the gutter footage follows the eaves, the slab square footage follows width times length, the approach follows the garage doors on the front, the porch pad follows the porches — unless somebody typed an override. The rate is frozen at the moment you added it, so editing your catalogue next month cannot quietly reprice a quote you already sent.

See what an option adds before you switch it on

Every toggle in the right-click menu carries its measured quantity and its price: On, 188 lin ft, $1,316 for gutters; a dollar figure on Insulate this wall. That turns an option list into a conversation you can have with the customer standing beside you, rather than a change you make now and price later at the desk.

Insulate the shop side and leave the equipment bay

Insulation is chosen per wall, per product and per thickness — batt, open-cell, closed-cell or rigid board, on a real thickness ladder — and drawn to scale inside the girt cavity. Square feet are measured net of the openings, and the note reports board-feet for the foam contractor. One building-wide toggle cannot describe the job that actually gets sold.

The upgrades that sell the building are drawn and measured

Stone veneer as a band at the wainscot height, measured net of whatever openings punch through it — a front wall that is mostly overhead door carries far less stone than its perimeter suggests. Vertical battens on the wall steel at 16 inch centres. A wainscot band splits the wall skin at its real height, so the two colours are drawn correctly and bought correctly, each at its own area.

How it works
  1. 1Catalog ids are tenant-private, so matching is by NAME (with category as a tie-break), never by id.
  2. 2Each placement freezes the catalogue rate at add time, so a later Settings edit cannot silently reprice a saved design.
  3. 3Quantity is RE-MEASURED from the building whenever the shell changes — gutter linear feet follow the eaves, slab square feet follow width times length, approach follows the garage doors, porch pad follows the porches — unless a rep typed an override.
  4. 4Some kinds only make sense once per building and are marked unique; garage doors stack.
  5. 5Built-in fallback rows let the right-click menu toggle the 3D even before a tenant has priced the matching catalogue line, at a zero rate that shows quantity only.
  6. 6Placements merge into the estimate's service list with quantities re-measured, while unlinked manual lines stay untouched.
Why we built it

Services attached to a building — concrete, site work, install labour — have to follow the geometry when the building changes, but not the price. If the building grows the quantity is re-measured and the quoted rate is left alone, because re-measuring a quantity is arithmetic and re-pricing a quote is a conversation with a customer. Services match to each company's own catalogue by name, so one shared definition works across shops that each keep their own private rates.

Gutters and downspouts, modelled like a real kit
5-inch K-style troughs on every eave with real hangers, end caps, outlets, elbows, 3x4 downspouts, wall straps, shoes and splash blocks — measured in linear feet the roof produces.
Floor, footer, approach and porch pads
Choose what you walk on — dirt, gravel or a poured slab — with an independent frost footer, an approach in front of each garage door and a pad under each porch.
Insulate the walls you actually insulate
Insulation is per wall, per product and per thickness, drawn at real inches inside the girts, with square feet measured net of openings.
Garage doors priced from your catalogue
A garage door row in your service catalogue places the actual door on the building at that size, and the insulated toggle prices from the catalogue's insulated row.
