One box per section on the estimate Summary

The estimate Summary as one box per section — Materials, Services & Add-Ons, Labor — each with its own markup at the bottom, a dense services list and approvals at the top.

The operating system built exclusively for post-frame and barndominium builders.

What it is

A Beta layout for a SmartBuild estimate's Summary. Each money section is one tinted box whose header keeps its cost, its markup and what the customer pays, open or closed. Every box ends with the same markup controls: $ or %, the amount, and Built into — which sections carry it — with the section's line markups underneath. Services are one line each, edited in their own window. Price approvals and $0 products sit in a banner at the top. Your prices do not change with the layout.

Solves
3 named problems
In short
01Turn on **Estimate Summary v2** in Settings → **Beta features** (owner or admin).
02Use the bar at the top to jump to a section; **Collapse all** closes every box down to its numbers.
03At the bottom of a box, set its markup and tick **Built into**: its own section keeps it inside; all three spreads it across the whole project; any two is also allowed.
We don’t have a screenshot of this one yet, so we’re not showing you one. Every picture elsewhere on this site is the real screen.
How it works
  1. 1Turn on Estimate Summary v2 in Settings → Beta features (owner or admin).
  2. 2Use the bar at the top to jump to a section; Collapse all closes every box down to its numbers.
  3. 3At the bottom of a box, set its markup and tick Built into: its own section keeps it inside; all three spreads it across the whole project; any two is also allowed.
  4. 4Click a service line to edit it, Save, and Undo from the note that appears if you change your mind.
  5. 5How labor is priced is one choice — Calculator, Fixed amount or Off — and the Labor box has Carries the project markup.
  6. 6The project markup and sales tax sit above the payment schedule; Builder view and Customer view stay at the bottom.
Why we built it

Builders were unsure how their markups worked. The same line could be marked up in two places, labor in two more, and services had no markup near them at all — and the panel listed the sections in a different order from the page. One box per section with one set of markup controls puts every markup next to what it marks up. The arithmetic is the same arithmetic: switching the layout moves no number.

The problem
  • Duplicate markup editors that meant different things
  • A long page of oversized service cards
  • An approval block buried mid-page
What you get
Every markup sits next to what it marks up
Far less scrolling
Prices are identical with the layout on or off
What's inside
See the markup — where every markup lands

A window on the new Summary. Pick a markup — a section's own, the line markups, or the project markup — and it draws the three sections on one dollar scale, with ribbons from that markup into the sections that carry it, sized by dollars. Underneath: each section before and after, and the whole job before and after. Every dollar comes from the customer's own copy, so the picture and what the customer reads cannot disagree.
