Speed to lead

The median time between a lead arriving and the rep making first contact — measured, per rep, from the event log.

What it is

Twenty-five percent of the Rep Score, and the metric the copy calls the biggest single thing a rep controls. Median rather than average, because one lead answered after a long weekend would otherwise define the rep. Shown as a duration ('22m median first response, across 14 leads').

'Speed to Lead' metric card with durations like '22m' labelled at the end of each bar, best-first. MetricCard in LeaderboardView.tsx. Sample data — no customer information appears here.
How it works
  1. 1For each lead, find the first stage move out of New Lead after the lead was created; fall back to the first move after creation.
  2. 2Seconds between the two timestamps is one sample; negatives are discarded.
  3. 3The rep's metric is the median of their samples.
  4. 4The sample count is carried so the tooltip can say how many leads it is based on.
Why we built it

The catalog copy is written for this exact trade: 'Someone pricing a 40x60 pole barn usually reaches out to a few builders the same day. The first one to call back is very often the one who gets the job — before price is even discussed. Minutes beat hours; hours beat days.' The tip is equally concrete: 'even a quick text to say "I've got your project, calling you now" counts.'

The problem
  • Response time was completely unmeasured.
  • One badly delayed lead used to distort the whole average.

What you get
The habit that most affects close rate becomes a number reps compete on.
Median keeps the figure representative of normal behaviour.
