Every stage move writes two things alongside the move: the outgoing checklist snapshot, notes included, and the list of step keys the checklist actually offered at that moment. The Lead Timeline can then show not only what was completed but what was offered and skipped.
Also called: audit trail of the sales process · process compliance · did the rep follow the steps
- 1On stage change, the entire outgoing checklist state is snapshotted onto the transition row
- 2The step keys the stage offered at that moment are recorded separately
- 3Server-side automated hops record the same offered list a manual drag would, resolving through the builder's custom checklist first
- 4The timeline resolves labels through current checklists, custom checklists, then a retired-label table
Advancing a deal resets the checklist for the next stage, which meant everything a rep had recorded under the previous one disappeared. Leaving a stage now freezes two things into the audit record: what was ticked and written, and the list of steps that were on offer at that moment. The second matters because editing a checklist later must not rewrite what a rep was actually asked to do that day.
- Checklist notes lost on stage advance
- Later process edits rewriting what past reps were asked to do
- No way to audit process compliance on a lost deal
