A customer, a permit office and a framing crew each need a different document off the same building, and drawing all three by hand at different times is how they end up disagreeing with each other. Plan, elevation and framing sheets are generated from the model, so all three describe one building. Openings are located in bays and inches off the post rather than as decimal offsets, which is the small thing that makes a sheet usable by someone holding a tape.
