Home, front, gable and plan views

One click flies the camera to a framed elevation that fits the whole structure — porches and lean-tos included — without cropping.

What it is

A Views dropdown that computes a camera position and target from the structure's own boxes and flies there. Front is the long sidewall, Gable is the end wall, Plan looks straight down, Home is a three-quarter approach chosen to show the add-ons.

How it works
  1. 1structureBoxes() returns an axis-aligned box for the main shell plus one per addition, not a union AABB.
  2. 2fitDistance() puts the camera as close as the perspective frustum allows with every corner of every box inside it, with margins for trim and in-canvas chrome.
  3. 3The Home direction is derived from which way the hull actually sticks out, so a gable porch or a side lean-to is in shot.
  4. 4The fly runs with OrbitControls disabled and lands inside the controls' own limits, then re-enables and updates once so arriving does not snap.
  5. 5VIEW_FLY_MS lives in its own module because the portal viewer needs the number without pulling three.js into its initial bundle.
Why we built it

Framing the camera to the whole footprint invented corners that were not there — a porch on the front and a lean-to on the end produce empty diagonal corners between them, and the camera parked so far back the building was a speck. A fixed three-quarter angle from one back corner hid whichever addition sat on the far side. Views now choose the corner that shows the most of what is actually attached, and the camera travels there slowly enough to read as a move rather than a cut, so a customer watching does not lose their bearings.
