Linked Estimate vs Possible Match

A deal only shows an estimate as attached when someone actually attached it; anything fuzzy is offered as a suggestion you have to accept.

What it is

Two clearly separated states. Explicit means the card carries a real estimate job id — that renders as the linked estimate with View and Unlink. Implicit means a fuzzy name, phone or email hit, or an estimate record that merely shares a contact id — that renders as a Possible match with a Link button and a way to say it is not a match.

Side by side: the green 'linked estimate' block with View and Unlink, and the amber 'Possible match' block with a Link button. Sample data — no customer information appears here.
How it works
  1. 1Linking writes the canonical opportunity row and resolves the freshest customer total
  2. 2Saying 'not a match' records an unlink so the matcher stops suggesting it
  3. 3Re-linking clears both the unlink and any prior pipeline removal
  4. 4The Link Existing Estimate picker is searchable by customer name, not only the job name
Why we built it

A brand-new lead was showing another customer's estimate as though it were attached, because a fuzzy contact match filled the slot — one new lead inherited an unrelated project's numbers outright. An estimate is now shown as attached only when somebody attached it; anything the system merely suspects is offered as a suggestion a rep has to accept. Searching the estimate picker by customer name used to return nothing, since jobs are usually named after the project rather than the buyer; it now searches both.

The problem
  • Fuzzy matches presented as confirmed links
  • Returning customers inheriting a prior build's estimate
  • Estimate pickers searchable only by job name
