Voicemail that arrives as readable text in the conversation

Unanswered calls record a message, transcribe it, and post both the audio and the words into the customer's thread.

What it is

Voicemail is on by default with a greeting built from the business name, or a custom one. The recording is captured, transcribed, and appended to the same thread row as a quotation — which the player then splits back out and syncs to playback. The voicemail is also recorded as a miss with a message attached, so the callback queue can see it.

A thread row: '🎙️ Voicemail from (555) 010-0001 — 0:34' with the player beneath and the transcript expanded. ContactsView.tsx + AudioPlayer.tsx. Sample data — no customer information appears here.
How it works
  1. 1<Record> with transcribe and a transcribeCallback; the 120-second cap is the trade for readable text
  2. 2The voicemail row threads immediately with the audio; the transcript is patched onto it when it arrives
  3. 3The transcript is also written onto the call fact — it is the first thing a builder reads
  4. 4Media points at the platform's own authenticated proxy, never a raw provider URL
  5. 5The call is stamped status='voicemail', miss_cause='left_voicemail'
Why we built it

A voicemail from a post-frame lead is worth $30,000 to $250,000 and it had nowhere to live — the audio sat with the carrier and nothing in the product would ever surface it. A builder in a truck also cannot play a message, but they can read one at a red light. Unanswered calls now record, transcribe, and post both the audio and the words into the customer's thread.

The problem
  • Voicemail stranded in a carrier mailbox
  • No way to triage messages without listening to all of them
