A separate meter for voicemail transcription, in whole rounded-up minutes, written once per recording and guarded against a retried provider callback.
Also called: transcription cost · why are calls more expensive · voicemail to text charges
- 1The transcript status doubles as the idempotency latch — a retried callback must never bill a second time
- 2Units are whole minutes, rounded up, like carrier billing
- 3Recorded with unit kind 'transcription_minute'
Transcription costs two to four times what a call minute costs, so folding it into the per-minute rate would have inflated the price of every call a builder makes to cover the few that get transcribed. Builders who never receive voicemail would be subsidising those who do. Transcription meters as its own unit, priced and shown separately.
- An expensive optional service hidden inside the base call rate
- Double-billing on webhook retries
