What texting, calling and email cost, per channel

A per-account rate card and monthly usage, split so a builder asking 'what does texting cost me?' does not have to read past email pricing.

What it is

Each channel carries its own setup AND its own prices. The Phone & Texting tab shows the phone rate rows and phone usage; the Email tab shows email rates and email usage. Tenants see only the final price; base cost, markup and margin exist only in the platform-owner view.

How it works
  1. 1getEffectiveRates / getMonthUsage are the only functions tenant-facing code may call — they return the final price and nothing else
  2. 2The admin rate sheet with cost and margin is restricted to platform-owner routes
  3. 3Usage history is shown per month alongside the rates
  4. 4Only providers the platform actually pays per message are billable — a CRM-carried message is not invented as a cost
Why we built it

The pricing table mixed email and phone together, so a builder asking what texting costs had to read past email rows to find out. There was a more expensive near-miss underneath it: for one account, 175 of 176 logged emails had gone out through their own connected CRM, and an early version of the usage sweep would have invoiced the builder for every one of them. The rate card and monthly usage are now split per channel, and only what the platform actually carried is billable.

The problem
  • Opaque per-message pricing
  • Email and phone costs presented as one blur
  • Billing for traffic the platform is not charged for
