New account setup wizard

A four-step wizard that provisions a builder's workspace and pre-fills the settings the rest of the product depends on.

What it is

Step 1 (required) takes the company name and web address — the subdomain auto-derives from the name until you edit it — and provisions the workspace. Step 2 collects company contact details that every customer-facing document prints. Step 3 collects year founded (which drives the years-experience counter on the customer portal), brand colour, portal subtext and logo. Step 4 hands off to the new workspace.

The wizard's step 1 with the subdomain auto-deriving as the company name is typed, then the branding step with the colour picker. Sample data — no customer information appears here.
How it works
  1. 1Steps 2 and 3 are optional; skipping writes nothing and the fields can be filled later in Settings
  2. 2Anything you do fill in is posted on the way to step 4 and lands in the right settings rows before you arrive
  3. 3The company name from step 1 always pre-populates the business-info record so it isn't retyped
  4. 4The page is gated to platform owners; the provisioning endpoint is independently gated, so bypassing the UI still fails
Why we built it

A builder's company name, address, phone number, email and logo print on every invoice, contract, change order and customer portal page, and a new account used to start with all of them blank — so the first documents out the door carried no way to phone the company that sent them. Four steps at signup collect it once, along with the year founded and the colour the customer portal runs on, and every setting that depends on it is filled in before the builder lands in their own workspace. Accounts are created by invitation only; nobody arrives here by accident.

The problem
  • Blank settings screens on day one
  • The same company details retyped into invoices, contracts and the portal

What you get
A workspace that already knows the company name, address, colours and logo
