Sales performance (manager view)

The manager's diagnostic cut of rep performance: a standing per rep, a volume-versus-close-rate quadrant chart, and one ranked panel per improvable metric.

What it is

A tab in Team that reads the exact same leaderboard endpoint the reps see, but frames it for the person doing the coaching. Every rep gets a one-phrase standing — Outperforming, On pace, Needs coaching, Too early to call — computed against the team's median close rate. The centrepiece is a scatter of leads worked against close rate with bubble size for deals won and two reference lines that turn the cloud into four readable quadrants.

Team › Sales: a row of standing cards ('Needs coaching' in red), then the Volume vs Close Rate bubble chart with two dashed reference lines. SalesPerformance.tsx. Sample data — no customer information appears here.
How it works
  1. 1Fetches POST /api/leaderboard once; reps with zero leads are dropped.
  2. 2The team median close rate and average lead volume are computed client-side and drawn as dashed reference lines.
  3. 3Standing thresholds: 25% above the median is Outperforming, 40% below is Needs coaching, provisional or under three leads is Too early to call.
  4. 4The scatter tooltip names the quadrant's meaning in a sentence rather than repeating the coordinates.
  5. 5Below it, four metric panels — speed to lead, time to quote, follow-up, time to close — each ranked best-first with the leader green and the laggard red.
Why we built it

'just like the individual crews have performance for project management stuff, so too should the sales reps have their analytics and all of their sales data.' The file then argues why it is not simply the leaderboard remounted: 'Leaderboard is REP-FACING and competitive: "where do I rank, how do I climb." This is MANAGER-FACING and diagnostic: "who needs coaching, and on what."' And on the scatter: 'the centrepiece here is volume plotted against close rate — the one view that separates "busy" from "effective", which no ranked list can show, because a ranked list has already collapsed the two axes into one number.' One source is enforced: 'No second derivation of close rate anywhere — if the two screens ever disagreed about a rep's numbers, both would rightly stop being trusted.'

The problem
  • A ranked list cannot distinguish a busy rep from an effective one.
  • Coaching conversations had no evidence behind them.
  • Two screens showing the same rep's close rate could drift apart.
