The Start date in the project modal is editable. Changing it shifts every stage by the same delta and says so in advance, naming the current project length and stating that the end date moves with it.

Weather pushes a start by a week and the whole job moves with it — but builders who tried it watched the end date fly out to February and assumed they had broken the schedule, so they stopped touching it and kept the real dates in their head. Moving the job start shifts every stage with it and states the new end date before the click, so the consequence is visible rather than discovered.
