Sold Deals Hand Off to the Build Board

Dragging a deal to Sold no longer creates a project — a countersigned deal becomes a project only through Start Project, and the sales card retires.

What it is

The sales board's last stage is Ready to Start, a pure work queue. The project pipeline has no manual add at all: projects join it from an approved estimate via Start Project and land in Kickoff, then advance on real events — the material payment to Materials, the first build checkpoint to Build, the last checkpoint to Wrap-Up, the final payment to Complete. Sales cards that already exist on the build board carry an 'In Project Pipeline' badge.

The project pipeline's empty-state card explaining that projects join automatically, next to a sales card carrying the green 'In Project Pipeline' badge. Sample data — no customer information appears here.
How it works
  1. 1The empty project board explains the rule rather than offering an add button
  2. 2Granular acts stay as card badges — material payment, ordered, delivered, final payment, review requested — so the columns stay main-phase only
  3. 3A Complete card offers a Request review action that sends through the builder's provider chain and stamps the badge
  4. 4A hand move on the project board always requires the override confirm
Why we built it

Dragging a deal to Sold used to create a project, which meant a mis-drag created real build work, and a project could exist before anyone had countersigned anything. Sold is now Ready to Start, and a deal becomes a project only through Start Project once the contract is countersigned; the sales card then retires. There is deliberately no manual add on the build board, and its empty state says so plainly along with the path to take instead — an empty screen with no explanation is how people end up inventing workarounds.

The problem
  • A drag accidentally creating a real project
  • A build board that can be populated by hand and so means nothing
  • An empty board with no explanation of how to fill it
Sound familiar?
What you get
A project exists only when a deal is genuinely ready to build
The build board's columns mean the same thing for everyone
The empty state teaches the path instead of hiding it
