Never a post standing in a doorway

A grid post that falls inside an opening — or too close to its edge — is omitted, and its load goes through the header into the jamb posts.

What it is

A framing rule with a named clearance: any grid post whose footprint falls inside a rough opening, or within the minimum jamb clearance of its edges, is dropped from the wall. Corner posts are never omitted; an opening that would claim one raises a validation error instead.

How it works
  1. 1For each wall, the opening claiming the post at a given wall-local position is resolved before posts are emitted.
  2. 2A claimed grid post is skipped and the opening's header and jambs take the load.
  3. 3A corner post is exempt — it carries two walls — so the opening raises opening.claimsCornerPost as an error you have to resolve.
  4. 4resolveBuildingDrag and the opening resolvers keep the same clearance, so no entry path can produce the situation.
Why we built it

Nothing looks worse on a render than a post standing in the middle of a doorway, and nothing is more certain to be discovered on site. Grid posts landing inside an opening are removed and their load is picked up by the header. Corner posts are the exception and are never deleted to make an opening fit: the corner carries two walls, so an opening that needs it gone is an opening in the wrong place, and the tool says so instead of quietly obliging.
