Photos record where and when they were taken

Every shot snapshots its GPS position and shutter time, giving an automatic where-and-when trail on jobsite photos.

What it is

Best-effort capture metadata stored with each photo: latitude, longitude, accuracy in metres, and the shutter timestamp. Denied or unavailable location never blocks the photo; older photos simply omit the fields.

How it works
  1. 1snapshotGeo() reads navigator.geolocation at shutter time with high accuracy and a 30-second cache, resolving null on denial or timeout
  2. 2The values ride with the blob through the capture engine and land on the photo row
  3. 3Checkpoint proof photos carry the same metadata into their stored photo record
Why we built it

Photos of a finished pour all look alike, and six months into a dispute nobody can prove which slab was in the frame or when it was shot. Location and time are captured with the photo. Location is best effort — a denied prompt never blocks the picture — and a camera prompt the mobile app swallows falls back to the phone's own camera instead of dead-ending the tap and losing the shot.

The problem
  • Photos with no verifiable place or time
  • Camera silently failing inside the mobile app shell
