Quiet your own notifications

Each person can mute in-app, email or SMS per event for themselves — and an admin can open anyone's switches to fix them.

What it is

A per-user preference panel mounted twice: in My Profile so every member quiets their own noise, and inside the admin Notifications tab with a user selected so an admin can view and fix any member's toggles. Members can also write their own message wording for events they send.

Also called: too many emails · turn off my texts · notification settings for me · stop notifying me

The My Notifications grid: event rows grouped by category with In-app / Email / SMS switches, and the mobile number field. Sample data — no customer information appears here.
How it works
  1. 1Overrides are stored per user and event with three channel flags; null means inherit, which is on.
  2. 2The panel states the ceiling rule in the UI: the org grid decides what an account CAN receive, and these switches only quiet a granted channel — muted here beats granted there, and nothing here grants what the grid does not.
  3. 3A mobile number field sets where SMS goes.
  4. 4Personal wording is self-service only and hidden when an admin is viewing another member's switches.
Why we built it

The comment describes the moderation loop it enables: 'I never got the estimate-sent text' → admin opens their row, sees SMS muted, flips it, teaches them where it lives. Stating the ceiling rule in the interface prevents the opposite confusion, where a person believes they have granted themselves a channel the organisation never enabled.

The problem
  • Notification volume was an all-or-nothing organisation setting.
  • An admin could not see why one person was not receiving alerts.

What you get
Each person tunes their own noise without changing anyone else's.
An admin can diagnose and fix a missing-notification complaint in one screen.
