Draw the Building From the Card

A card in Contacted carries a Create Estimate button that opens the 3D builder for that lead — and turns into View Estimate once one exists.

What it is

The Contacted column's cards carry the act that stage is for, the way a New Lead card carries the call. Before a design exists the button reads Create Estimate and opens the builder with the lead prefilled; once one exists the same button reads View Estimate and opens it. A freshly built estimate auto-attaches to the card that launched it.

Two Contacted cards side by side: one with the orange Create Estimate button, one with the wash-coloured View Estimate button, both carrying the 3D cube mark. Sample data — no customer information appears here.
How it works
  1. 1The button carries the lead's card id, name and contact id into the builder
  2. 2The same 3D mark is used either way, because it is the same tool and only the word changes
  3. 3Building an estimate from the card links it immediately, with no possible-match step and no duplicate card
  4. 4The card's own identity is used for the link so the lead card is replaced by the opportunity card rather than duplicated
Why we built it

The Contacted column's job is to get a building drawn, but a rep had to leave the board, open the estimating tool and find the customer again to start one. The card now carries that act the way a New Lead card carries the call: one button opens the drawing tool for that lead, and once an estimate exists the same button becomes the way back into it. The estimate attaches itself, so nobody has to accept a suggestion for a drawing they just made.

The problem
  • Extra navigation between a lead and its quote
  • Newly built estimates arriving as unlinked suggestions
  • An estimate build forking a duplicate card
