Settings holds a markdown body editor with a token reference table, a preview toggle, a 'Reset to Default' escape hatch, and a save that bumps the version. Saving does not touch already-signed contracts — those keep the body frozen at signing. A checkbox marks a template as the default used for new contracts.

- 1Settings → Portals → Client Portal → Contract sub-tab opens the editor.
- 2Show Tokens lists the full merge-field reference with a description of each.
- 3Type or paste markdown; Preview shows the raw body, and the library preview shows the rendered document.
- 4Save creates a new version (version + 1) and can set the template as the org default.
- 5The disclaimer banner sits permanently above the editor: 'This template is a starting point, not legal advice.'
The editor exists because contract wording is the one thing a builder must own and no software vendor should. The save path is documented as: 'Bumps version + flips `active` so prior versions remain in the table for audit but new contracts use the latest' — history is kept deliberately, because a contract template is a legal instrument with provenance, not a preference.
