Two-factor prompt that cannot lock you out

A dismissible banner nudges admins who have not turned on two-factor authentication, and disappears by itself once they have.

What it is

Privileged accounts see a non-blocking banner offering to open the account security panel where an authenticator app is set up. It never gates access, and it auto-hides for anyone already enrolled.

Why we built it

Locking a builder out of his own pipeline on a Monday morning, in the name of security, is a worse outcome than the risk it was meant to address — and a mandatory second factor that fails on a site with no signal does exactly that. Admins who have not turned on two-factor authentication get a banner they can dismiss, which disappears by itself once it is on. Hard enforcement is saved for the money-moving flows, where it can be built and tested without any chance of shutting a whole company out of its own account.

The problem
  • Privileged accounts run without a second factor because nobody prompts them
  • Hard security enforcement can lock an owner out of a live business system
