A three-way switch on the account. Live is normal delivery. Redirect rewrites customer email to a safe mailbox with the intended recipient stamped in the subject and suppresses customer texts entirely. Off dispatches nothing at all while still logging every attempt.
Also called: test mode · stop emails going to customers · redirect email · safe testing · don't text my clients
- 1The mode is read on every send with no caching, so a flip takes effect on the very next message rather than after a cache expiry.
- 2Redirect keeps the intended recipient visible in the subject so a test is still readable.
- 3Text messages are suppressed rather than redirected — there is no verified-safe phone number.
- 4Every suppressed or redirected attempt is still logged, so a test window can be reviewed afterwards.
- 5Human-typed inbox messages are deliberately NOT gated.
The panel copy explains both halves. On the interlock: 'Use this for a test window, then switch back. While it is not Live, this builder's real estimate, contract and stage emails do not reach their customers.' On the exception: 'Human-typed Inbox messages are deliberately NOT gated — they would fail silently and the builder would think they had replied.'
- Testing a live account risked sending real documents to real homeowners.
- A cached gate meant a flip did not take effect immediately.
- Silently gating a person's typed reply made them believe they had answered.
