Assigning a task tells the person, with the detail

Assigning a task to someone else notifies them with the title, notes and due date; assigning it to yourself notifies nobody.

What it is

A task_assigned notification addressed to one named person, routed directly rather than by role. The API returns whether it notified and whether the task was self-assigned, and stamps notified_at on the task.

How it works
  1. 1If the assignee differs from the author, notifyUsers fires task_assigned to that user with a 'Open tasks' CTA built from the canonical link builder.
  2. 2A failed notification is logged and swallowed — the task exists and is visible in the hub either way.
  3. 3The registry entry for task_assigned carries an empty default role list on purpose: it is addressed to a person, not a role.
Why we built it

The route states the rule: “Assigning a task to YOURSELF notifies nobody. You were there; you just typed it. Assigning it to someone else notifies THEM, with the detail they need to act on it. This is the same principle as actor-suppression on stage completions: never tell someone what they just did.” The failure path is equally deliberate: 'a failed notification must not lose it.'
