Trim measured off the trim the model drew

Ridge cap, rake, eave, corner, hip cap, break cap, headwall flashing and closure strip are summed from the actual trim pieces on the model.

What it is

Every trim panel the engine placed is classified by its source and added to a named run — ridge cap, hip cap, rake, eave, corner, mansard curb, gambrel break cap, headwall flashing, peak-extension rake. Corner trim is summed per corner height. Opening trim is 2 × (width + height) per opening. Exposed-fastener steel roofs also get a closure strip matching every eave run.

The Trim category rows with LF quantities — Ridge cap, Rake trim, Corner trim, Inside/outside closure strip. takeoff.ts `trimRuns`. Sample data — no customer information appears here.
How it works
  1. 1Trim panels are matched by source pattern and routed into named runs
  2. 2A rake board follows two slopes, so its billed run is the centreline — about half the outline perimeter, not the longest edge
  3. 3Corner heights are collected per corner key and summed once
  4. 4Standing-seam and shingle roofs skip the closure strip; standing seam adds concealed clips instead
  5. 5Headwall flashing carries the IRC R903.2 note (min 0.019in metal, 4in up the wall and 4in onto the roof, kickouts both ends)
Why we built it

Trim is the category most often estimated as 'a few sticks' and most often short on site. Deriving it from the drawn geometry means an addition, a monitor or a gambrel break automatically brings its own trim rather than being remembered.

The problem
  • Trim guessed by rule of thumb misses runs an unusual roof creates
  • Closure strip is forgotten until the eave is open
