Colour-matched panel screws at 1.8 per square foot of exposed-fastener steel (roof excluded when the roof is standing seam or shingle). Concealed seam clips at one per 2 sq ft for standing seam. Purlin hangers, truss plates and uplift ties counted one-for-one from the hanger members in the model, each with a note explaining where it goes.
Also called: how many screws · panel screws · truss plates · hurricane ties · purlin hangers
- 1screwSqft = roof (only when exposed-fastener) + wall skin + wainscot
- 2screwCount = ceil(screwSqft × 1.8), the SmartBuild sheathing-package formula
- 3Hanger members are grouped by nominal and classified into PurlinHanger / TrussPlate / TrussTie
- 4Ledger lags are one per 2 LF of addition ledger
The formula's provenance is recorded at the top of the file: 'screws: {sf} × 1.8 — SmartBuild sheathing package (@A71)'. The export module lists as a principle that 'hardware on the order matches hardware in the model' — so a hip roof that needs purlin hangers has them on the order, not discovered on site.
- Fasteners are estimated by feel and run out mid-sheet
- Connectors the design implies never reach the order
