Stone veneer and board-and-batten

Stone veneer around the lower walls and vertical battens on the wall steel, drawn on the building and measured net of openings.

What it is

Two exterior finish services with geometry. Stone is a band around the building at the wainscot height (or a 3ft default), measured as perimeter times height minus whatever openings punch through it. Board-and-batten is vertical battens on the wall steel at 16in on centre, measured as wall area.

How it works
  1. 1The stone band inherits the wainscot height when wainscot is enabled, so the two finishes agree.
  2. 2Openings overlapping the band are subtracted from the measured area.
  3. 3Battens are drawn as real strips on the skin at their real spacing and width.
  4. 4Both are unique per building and toggled from the services panel or the right-click menu with their priced quantity shown.
Why we built it

Stone wainscot and board-and-batten are the two finish upgrades that most change how a building photographs and the two hardest to price by eye. Both are measured off the drawn wall net of its openings — a front wall that is mostly overhead door carries far less stone than its perimeter suggests, which is exactly the kind of overestimate that gets quoted and never caught.

The problem
  • Finish upgrades priced off gross wall area instead of the area actually covered.

What you get
The upgrade is visible in the render and measured net of openings.
