Assign a material stage to a supplier

Material Delivery can be assigned to a supplier contact instead of a crew.

What it is

On stages of type 'materials', the assignment dropdown groups Crews and Suppliers, pulling supplier contacts from the tenant's own contact book. The stored value is 'supplier:<name>' and renders through the same display helper as a crew.

Also called: material delivery is the supplier's job · assign supplier to a stage · who is delivering

The assignment dropdown open on a Material Delivery stage showing Crews and Suppliers optgroups — GanttChart.tsx stage editor. Sample data — no customer information appears here.
How it works
  1. 1Supplier options are contacts filed under the supplier bucket with a name
  2. 2The select renders optgroups for Crews and Suppliers; an already-set supplier that is no longer in the list is still shown so the value never disappears
  3. 3The label changes to 'Assigned to (crew or supplier)' for materials stages
Why we built it

Material delivery is the supplier's job, not a crew's, but the only thing a stage could be assigned to was a crew — so deliveries got pinned to whichever crew was nearby. When the lumber showed up late, the delay analytics recorded it as that crew running over, and crews were being judged on trucks they had no control over. Material stages offer the supplier contacts alongside crews, so a late delivery reads as a late delivery.

The problem
  • Delivery stages misattributed to a build crew
  • Delay analytics blaming crews for supplier misses
