Stage quick edit

Click a stage bar to change its dates, status and crew without leaving the schedule.

What it is

A compact popover showing the stage's start, end and computed duration, four status buttons, and a crew selector. It warns when the edited dates fall outside the project's own span, and a 'Full Details' button hands off to the stage modal.

Small popover over a stage bar with start/end/duration, status buttons and crew select — GanttChart.tsx Stage Inline Editor Popover. Sample data — no customer information appears here.
How it works
  1. 1Start is rolled to the next working day and duration is treated as working days on save
  2. 2Saving updates only this stage's dates (independent of the other stages), writes the status through updateTaskStatus, and upserts the planned dates into crew_stage_logs
  3. 3Warnings appear when the stage would start before the project starts or end after it ends
  4. 4Materials stages offer suppliers as well as crews in the assignment dropdown
Why we built it

Most schedule changes are one stage moving by a couple of days, and making that require opening a full project window put friction on the single most common action on the board — so small corrections got deferred and the schedule drifted out of date. Editing happens in place on the bar. It warns when an edit pushes a stage outside the job's own span, because that is exactly the seed of a schedule that later reads as nonsense.

The problem
  • Everyday stage edits buried behind a full modal
  • Silent creation of out-of-span stages
