An explicit link action instead of a silent auto-match. It proposes a contact matched by email, then phone, then exact name — mirroring what the link function would resolve to internally — and shows it as a preview: 'Will be linked to [Contact]' or 'Will create new lead [Name]'.
Also called: link the quote to a lead · create a lead from the estimate · wrong contact matched
- 1On mount, auto-match by email > last-seven-digits of phone > exact name.
- 2Render the preview of what will happen.
- 3'Choose a different contact' opens a search picker over the contact list.
- 4Confirm performs the link, reusing a matched contact or creating a new lead.
Estimates coming over from the estimating system were auto-linked to whichever contact shared an email address, silently, so a wrong match landed on a real customer's record with nobody watching it happen. Sending an estimate to the pipeline now shows which contact it will be linked to and waits for confirmation, with the option to pick a different one when the email-based guess is wrong.
