Save a number you just called

Dialling or receiving a number nobody has saved offers to make it a contact with just a name.

What it is

When a number has no matching contact, the dock offers a one-field prompt — 'Who is it?' — that creates a minimal contact with just a name and the number, so the next call shows a name.

Why we built it

A number nobody has saved is usually a new customer, not just a dial — but saving it meant leaving the call, opening the address book and typing the number back in from memory. Most of the time it did not happen, and the next call from that person came up unknown again. Dialling or receiving an unsaved number now offers to make it a contact with just a name, because a name and a number is exactly what the builder just learned and anything more would be an interrogation.
