A drag-and-drop avatar uploader that stores the image with the identity provider, so the sidebar, nav and any surface reading the current user updates without extra plumbing. A default provider avatar is treated as no image so a fresh account still shows the upload affordance.
Also called: avatar · profile picture · my photo in the app
- 1The file is validated for image type and a 5 MB limit before upload, producing a clearer error than a generic rejection.
- 2Upload goes through the identity provider's own profile image API.
- 3Removing asks for confirmation and clears the image.
Photos make a crew roster readable at a glance. Doing the upload through the identity provider means every surface that already reads the current user picks it up automatically, rather than adding a second image store to keep in sync.
- There was no way to set a personal photo.
- Oversized files failed with an opaque error.
