Profile photo

Drag or pick a photo and it appears everywhere in the app that shows you, with a 5 MB cap and clear errors.

What it is

A drag-and-drop avatar uploader that stores the image with the identity provider, so the sidebar, nav and any surface reading the current user updates without extra plumbing. A default provider avatar is treated as no image so a fresh account still shows the upload affordance.

The circular avatar dropzone in My Profile with the drag-over state and the Remove control. Sample data — no customer information appears here.
How it works
  1. 1The file is validated for image type and a 5 MB limit before upload, producing a clearer error than a generic rejection.
  2. 2Upload goes through the identity provider's own profile image API.
  3. 3Removing asks for confirmation and clears the image.
Why we built it

Photos make a crew roster readable at a glance. Doing the upload through the identity provider means every surface that already reads the current user picks it up automatically, rather than adding a second image store to keep in sync.

The problem
  • There was no way to set a personal photo.
  • Oversized files failed with an opaque error.
