Each explained permission carries a title, a description of what it actually controls, and an example sentence written in the product's own vocabulary — e.g. Manage Building Plans notes that everyone can view and download plans and this permission only controls who can link or unlink a SmartBuild job. Categories themselves also have explainers.

- 1PERM_DESCRIPTIONS maps each permission key (and category key) to title, description and example.
- 2The ⓘ appears on the permissions with real consequences — editing, stage controls, delete, manage users, building plans.
- 3The modal locks body scroll while open and is reset on tab change as a safety net against a leaked scroll lock.
Permission names are engineering shorthand; the consequences are not obvious. The explainers exist so an owner granting Edit Estimates knows it includes markup, labour calculation, editing supplier orders and emailing them — a much bigger grant than the label suggests.
- Permission labels understated what they granted.
- Owners avoided configuring access because the consequences were unclear.
