An opt-in column on the Material Breakdown. Each section — Framing, Openings, Trim — can carry its own percent or flat markup keyed by SmartBuild's own section name, which is stable across re-pulls of the same job. Per-section markup resolves before the overall markup and becomes part of its base.
Also called: per-line markup · markup on framing only · section markup
- 1Press 'Mark up individual lines' to reveal the inputs; a builder who only uses the overall markup never sees the extra column.
- 2Pick % or $, type a value, and the live math prints under it — '$12,400 + 8% = $13,392'.
- 3The section markups save to job_meta with the same ref-first debounce as services, so a poll tick can't stomp an edit still in flight.
- 4The total appears as 'Your line markup' BELOW the SmartBuild Total, labelled 'not on the supplier order'.
An overall percentage answers what to add to a job. It cannot answer that framing carries more risk than sheeting on this one, which is what a builder actually prices with. Each material section now takes its own percentage or dollar amount on top of the overall markup, and it sits below the supplier's subtotal rather than above it — placed above, it read as though the supplier were charging it. Everything above the supplier total is their arithmetic; the line markup is the builder's margin on top of it.
- One markup percentage for parts of a job with very different risk
- Margin rendered where it read as a supplier charge
