One Stage at a Time

The board opens one stage and collapses the rest, so a phone shows a working column instead of nine slivers.

What it is

Default-on accordion mode: expanding one stage collapses every other. A toolbar toggle switches to Multiple, which opens every stage at once for a desk user. The choice, the column width and which stages are collapsed all persist, and returning to the pipeline always reopens New Lead.

Phone-width board with New Lead open full width and the other eight stages as vertical collapsed rails. Sample data — no customer information appears here.
How it works
  1. 1Accordion mode is stored per device and defaults on
  2. 2Expanding a stage while in accordion mode collapses all the others
  3. 3A column-id signature detects a real structure change and re-applies the one-open default without fighting manual expansions
  4. 4A drag handle between columns resizes them from 180px to 500px and the width persists
Why we built it

Nine columns on a phone is nine slivers, and reps in trucks were scrolling sideways through a wall of half-visible cards to find one deal. Opening one stage now collapses the rest, so a phone shows one working column. An early version only applied the preference at the moment you toggled it, so a refresh restored whatever was last saved and reps kept landing back on all nine columns open; the setting now holds across reloads.

The problem
  • A nine-column board that is unreadable on a phone in a truck
  • Losing your place after every refresh
  • Horizontal scrolling to reach a stage

What you get
One full-width working column on a phone
The board comes back the way you left it
Desk users can still fan every stage open
