Labour that keeps up when the building grows

When a building gains porches or attached buildings after labour was saved, the frozen square footage is repaired against the current geometry instead of billing the old figure forever.

What it is

A repair pass that runs whenever the estimate loads. It compares the auto-computed under-roof square footage stamped alongside the saved labour blob with the building's current geometry, and shifts the saved figure by the difference — preserving any hand-typed offset the builder added on top.

How it works
  1. 1Every labour save stamps the auto under-roof total (autoTotalSqft) next to the saved figure.
  2. 2On load, the current auto total is recomputed from the live geometry.
  3. 3Blobs with a stamp shift by the delta, keeping the builder's own offset intact.
  4. 4Legacy blobs with no stamp can never sit BELOW the current footprint, so an undercount lifts while a deliberately raised figure is kept.
  5. 5After a lift the tracker updates, so re-running the repair is a no-op.
Why we built it

Square footage was frozen the moment a rep first opened the pricing screen, while the building kept growing in the designer. One job picked up two enclosed attached buildings and porches after that freeze and kept billing labour on 3,300 square feet when the real under-roof total was 4,090; a 40x60 with a 10x60 lean-to came out at 2,400 instead of 3,000. The frozen figure is now repaired against the current geometry, so labour follows the building instead of billing whatever it was on the day somebody first priced it.

The problem
  • Labour billing square footage the job has outgrown
  • Lean-tos and porches missing from the under-roof total
