Two escapes from the formula. The flat mode replaces the calculator and the custom items entirely with a single bid figure. Custom labour items are named extras — each with a label, an amount and an explanation — that sit on top of the calculated lines. Both persist in the same job_meta.labor blob as everything else.

A sub who quotes the whole erection at one price has no use for a crew calculator, and a job with a crane day has no line for it anywhere in the formula. Both used to survive only until the page reloaded, and neither was visible to the second person in the office, so two people looking at the same estimate could see two different labour numbers. They now save with the rest of the labour inputs: one flat number can override the whole calculator, and named one-off lines sit on top of it.
