Ad and campaign attribution captured automatically

The form quietly attaches the referring page and any campaign parameters to every submission.

What it is

Attribution appended to the submitted payload: the referring page URL, the five standard UTM parameters, and the Google and Facebook click identifiers when present.

Also called: where did this lead come from · utm tracking · google ads lead · facebook lead

A lead record showing utm_campaign and gclid captured alongside the name and phone. src/app/f/[sourceKey]/HostedForm.tsx. Sample data — no customer information appears here.
How it works
  1. 1The referrer or current URL is captured as the page URL
  2. 2utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, utm_content, gclid and fbclid are read from the query string
  3. 3The whole block is wrapped so a failure never blocks the submission
Why we built it

Builders spending on ads could not tell which campaign produced which enquiry, so the answer to "is this working" was a guess and the budget went wherever the last good week had been. The form captures the campaign, source and click identifiers the page context already carries and attaches them to the lead. If none of it is present the lead still submits, because attribution is a bonus and never a reason to lose an enquiry.

The problem
  • Form leads arriving with no source attached
  • Marketing spend with no attributable outcome
