Archive, delete and restore projects

Finished or cancelled jobs come off the board without being lost, and a deleted project can be brought back.

What it is

The schedule has collapsible Archived Projects and Deleted Projects panels. Archiving and deleting both go through a typed confirmation modal; archived projects can be unarchived and deleted ones restored.

Also called: archive a job · delete a project · restore deleted project · hide finished jobs

Archived Projects panel expanded with a restore action — GanttChart.tsx Archived/Deleted Projects panels. Sample data — no customer information appears here.
How it works
  1. 1Archive / Delete buttons sit in the project modal header action row
  2. 2Both open a confirmation modal that requires typing to confirm
  3. 3archiveProject / deleteProject / unarchiveProject / restoreDeletedProject in the data layer perform the state change and the project cache republishes
Why we built it

A board that only ever grows stops being readable — finished jobs from two years ago sat between this week's work, and the schedule got scrolled past instead of used. But hard-deleting a job carrying photos, invoices and a signed contract is not survivable if the person clicking meant to tidy up. Archive is the everyday action, and delete keeps a restore path.

The problem
  • Completed jobs crowding the live board
  • Accidental deletion being permanent
