A filter on the reminder scan that excludes leads whose status says the deal is dead. Won deals are deliberately NOT excluded. The filter is applied only where the status column actually exists, rather than being guessed at on stores that have no dead state.
Also called: stop reminders on lost deals · dead lead still texting me · reminders after I killed the deal
- 1The scan of pipeline_opportunities applies the shared NOT_DEAD_LEADS predicate.
- 2pipeline_synthetic_contacts has no dead state on any row, so the filter is not applied there.
- 3Demo rows are skipped entirely, as are reminders with no assigned rep.
The bug is named in the code as: “A reminder set while a deal was live outlives the deal: the rep marks it dead, the card keeps its stage AND its armed next-action, and the nudge still fires days later. Chris's rule is unambiguous — once a lead is marked dead, nothing fires for it.” The won-deal carve-out is argued separately: 'a chase ("they haven't approved yet") is meaningless once a deal is won, but a reminder is something the rep deliberately set for themselves, and "call Tuesday to book the build" is exactly the kind of note that matters most AFTER the sale closes.'
