Backlink counts and the prospect pool

A domain summary reports total backlinks, referring domains, and links gained and lost — and a competitor's referring domains become a ranked prospect list.

What it is

Two calls: a summary for the tracked domain including subdomains, snapshotted per day; and a referring-domains listing for a competitor, ordered by domain rank with internal links excluded and limited to live links, which becomes the replication prospect pool.

How it works
  1. 1The summary call returns totals plus new and lost link counts for the tracked domain.
  2. 2Snapshots are stored per day so trend is visible.
  3. 3The referring-domains call runs against a competitor with internal links excluded.
  4. 4Results are ranked and returned as prospects.
Why we built it

Part of the growth engine's mining set (Keith 08-19). The referring-domains call is described in the code as 'the backlink-replication prospect pool' — the point is not to admire a competitor's links but to work the same list.
