The long-standing caller-ID name registration, capped at fifteen characters, filed the same way as the other trust products and validated for length before submission.
Also called: caller id name · 15 characters · name on the phone
- 1Display name is length-checked against the CNAM maximum before anything is created
- 2Filed as a Trust Hub product against the approved business profile
Rich caller-ID branding does not reach every handset or every carrier, and the ones it misses are disproportionately the older phones a rural customer is calling from. Caller-ID name is the oldest and most widely supported way to put a company name on a screen, so it covers what the newer mechanism does not. It registers a short display name of up to fifteen characters alongside the rest of the call-trust set.
- No name presentation on carriers without rich call data
