Imported Backlog Held Off the Board

Bulk-imported leads with no owner wait off the board until distribution or a person assigns them — and a banner says how many are waiting.

What it is

A lead that is bulk-imported, has no owner, and is still in New Lead is held out of the sales board. It lives in the Leads Manager backlog instead. A dismissable banner on the board tells an admin how many are waiting, with buttons to open the Leads Manager or set up distribution. Live intake leads are explicitly not backlog — they land in New Lead immediately.

The amber banner reading 'N imported leads are waiting off the board — unrouted until distribution or a manual assign gives them a rep' with Open Leads Manager and Set up distribution. Sample data — no customer information appears here.
How it works
  1. 1One shared predicate defines the hold, used by both the board filter and the Leads Manager's Unrouted lens so the two can never disagree
  2. 2Manual leads, assigned leads and anything past New Lead are untouched
  3. 3Column counts read from the filtered set, so header numbers match what is shown
  4. 4The banner count is derived from cards the board already holds, with no extra fetches, and dismissal lasts only for the session because a held backlog is a standing condition
Why we built it

An owner importing 3,200 leads from an old CRM watched the entire history land in New Lead at once, burying the handful of people who had actually just enquired. Bulk-imported leads with no owner now wait off the board until distribution or a person assigns them, and a banner says how many are waiting, so an owner who has distribution switched off is not staring at an empty board with no explanation. Leads arriving live from a form are explicitly not backlog — someone just asked to be contacted, so they land in New Lead immediately with no setup required.

The problem
  • A migration burying live leads under years of history
  • An empty-looking board with no explanation
  • Two surfaces disagreeing about which leads are held
