Guided tours for the numbers

Two in-app guided tours — one on reading Analytics, one on how the Leaderboard and Rep Score work — reachable from the tab you are standing on.

What it is

Step-by-step tours written for builders, not analysts. 'Understand your Analytics' walks conversion, speed-to-lead, the funnel and stage time in four plain steps and closes by explaining why the tab is empty on a new account. 'How the Leaderboard & Rep Score work' covers ranking, what moves a score and the longest-reign record. Each is indexed by keywords and by the questions people actually ask.

The tour overlay on the pipeline: 'Speed-to-lead — how fast you answer' with the Analytics tab highlighted behind it. performance.ts tours via AcademyHint in PipelineView.tsx. Sample data — no customer information appears here.
How it works
  1. 1A hint button beside the Pipeline / Analytics / Leaderboard tabs launches the tour matching the active tab.
  2. 2Tours navigate the app themselves, opening the pipeline and pointing at the right tab.
  3. 3Each tutorial declares the roles it is for — admin, sales, project manager — so it only surfaces for people who can see the screen.
  4. 4Intents are indexed in natural language: 'how many leads turn into jobs', 'why is my analytics blank', 'what makes my score go up'.
Why we built it

The content file's copy rules are explicit: 'plain builder language; name our terms once ("Rep Score = how each rep is doing"); short, no exclamation marks, mobile-friendly.' One step exists purely to defuse a support ticket: 'On a brand-new account this tab is empty — there's nothing to count yet. These numbers aren't something you fill in by hand; they build themselves as real leads come in.'

The problem
  • An empty analytics tab on a new account looked like a fault.
  • Reporting vocabulary was unfamiliar to the audience.
  • Training required a call with the vendor.
