A tiny inline button placed in the headers of feature-dense or easily-misunderstood surfaces — Lead Distribution, Integrations, Notifications, Project Stages, the pipeline — that starts the matching tutorial in place.
Also called: learn this · help icon · graduation cap icon · teach me this screen
- 1It renders nothing until its tutorial is actually registered, so a header can be wired before the content exists and never becomes a dead button
- 2It hides itself when the tutorial is role-gated away from you, or when you've turned the Academy off
- 3It subscribes to the catalog so it appears the moment its tutorial ships
Help that lives in its own panel gets found by the people who least need it. The person who is actually stuck is staring at a screen with eleven settings on it, not going hunting for a help centre. A small cap icon next to the heading on the screens that genuinely confuse people starts that screen's walkthrough right where the confusion is. It appears only once the walkthrough for that screen exists, so it is never a button that does nothing.
- Help discoverable only by people already looking for help
- Dead help links pointing at content that was never written
