On a materials stage, completing the 'Order Placed' checkpoint stamps the Ordered badge on the project card. Unticking it clears the badge.

A builder asked how to mark an order as sent after he had phoned it in, and there was no answer. The badge was stamped only when an order was emailed out through the platform, so anyone who ordered by phone or straight from the supplier's own portal watched the card read 'Order not sent' forever with nothing to click, and the material tracking went back to memory. The checkpoint he already ticks on the schedule is the answer: ticking Order Placed is the statement that the order went out, recorded once, in the place he was already recording it.
