A single toast stack portaled to the body so no view's overflow or scroll lock can clip it. Older toasts collapse into a '+N more' pill that opens the bell panel. Toasts never lock body scroll.
Also called: popup alert · toast message · corner notification
- 1Only events whose registry default turns toasting on ever become toasts.
- 2Placement is top-right on desktop and full-width below the top banner on mobile.
- 3Explicit dismissal marks the rows seen; clicking the body or CTA marks them read and navigates; expiry marks nothing.
The placement has a recorded reason: the old bottom-right position 'stacked the toasts directly on top of the Academy launcher and the bug-report pill (both bottom-right) — three unrelated things fighting for one corner. The top-right is empty chrome, and it's also where the bell lives conceptually, so a toast now appears near what it belongs to.'
