The reachability fields are permanent rows on the record rather than fields that disappear when blank. Clicking turns the value into an input; blur or Enter saves; Escape abandons. An empty field reads '+ Add phone' rather than not existing.
Also called: edit phone number · add an email to a contact · contact has no number
- 1Both rows render whether or not they hold a value
- 2Editing writes through updateContact and the details API, scoped to the caller's org
- 3The write targets the row the send path reads — nothing is pushed to a third-party CRM
Empty fields were hidden, so a contact with no phone number simply had no phone row — and therefore no way to add one. Builders found out the number was missing when a text failed to send, usually the one confirming tomorrow's site visit. Phone and email are always shown and always editable, even when empty: click, type, Enter to save.
- Missing contact details with no route to add them
- Send failures caused by absent data discovered too late
