Forward a customer email to someone else

Forward any email in the thread to a new address with an optional note on top.

What it is

Each email in the thread carries Reply and Forward. Forward opens a panel showing the original body, a To field and a note box, and sends a composed message with a standard forwarded-message header appended below the note.

Also called: forward message · send this to my supplier · pass it on

How it works
  1. 1The original subject and HTML body are captured from the thread row
  2. 2A note, when written, is placed above a '---------- Forwarded message ----------' block
  3. 3app.forwardEmail dispatches through the account's email path
Why we built it

A builder routinely has to hand a customer's email to a supplier, an inspector or a crew lead. The only way to do it was to copy the text out into a personal mail client, which meant the forward happened somewhere nobody else could see and the customer's record no longer showed what had been passed on. Any email in the thread now forwards to a new address with a note on top, and the forward stays part of the history.

The problem
  • Leaving the platform to forward a message
  • Forwarded correspondence disappearing from the job record
