Agency-granted 3D builder access

Whether an account may even see the in-house 3D builder is an agency grant; the tenant's own engine choice sits underneath it.

What it is

A per-organisation grant that controls a whole cluster of surfaces at once: the 3D Builder nav item, the estimate-engine picker inside Integrations, and the Builder prices and Material prices settings tabs. Without the grant the experience is byte-identical to before the 3D builder existed, including a redirect away from the builder route and a refusal of the engine change server-side.

How it works
  1. 1One filter, visibleSettingsTabs, hides every gated tab across the Settings rail, the Command Portal and the grouped nav simultaneously.
  2. 2A deep-link guard also refuses to render a gated tab from a stale bookmark.
  3. 3The tenant's own estimate_engine preference is separate and is not rewritten when access is revoked.
Why we built it

Migration 257 is emphatic on both halves: 'Choosing is still theirs; granting is ours', and 'SMARTBUILD IS NEVER AFFECTED. This column gates one OPTION appearing.' Revoking access deliberately does not rewrite the stored engine preference, so a re-grant restores the tenant's own choice rather than a default. The settings registry adds the operational reason for one shared filter: 'so a new gated tab can never be half-hidden'.

The problem
  • A gated feature could be hidden from one nav surface but reachable from another.
  • A stale bookmark could render a tab the account no longer has.
  • Revoking a grant risked silently changing the tenant's estimating engine.

What you get
Accounts without the grant see the product exactly as they always did.
Granting and revoking is one switch across every surface.
The tenant's own engine choice survives a revoke.
